Why a Google Business Profile Isn't Enough
A Google listing is good, but it doesn't replace a website. We explain why you need both.

Search Google for "website design services." The results show websites, not Google Business Profiles. Anyone who only has a profile is invisible for exactly these kinds of searches.
What a Google Business Profile Does Well
The Google Business Profile (formerly Google My Business) is free and useful. It shows:
- Your company name, address, and phone number
- Opening hours
- Customer reviews
- Photos of your business
- Your location on Google Maps
For local search, that's a good start. When someone searches "plumber near me," you'll appear on the map. But that is where the benefit ends.
What a Google Profile Can't Do
Describe your services in detail. You only have limited space for text. Customers who want to know more won't find answers.
Build trust. A Google listing looks like a directory entry. Your own website shows you take your business seriously and invest in your presence.
Rank organically on Google. For searches like "painting services quote" or "IT consultant near me," websites appear in the results. Without your own site, you don't exist for these searches.
Offer a professional email address. info@your-business.com only works with your own domain.
Showcase references and projects. On a website, you can present your best work. On Google Maps, you can't.
The Best Combination
Google Profile and website complement each other. The profile makes you visible in local search. The website convinces prospects and turns visitors into customers.
Link your Google Profile to your website. That way, customers who find you on Google Maps immediately get all the information they need.
Use Both Channels
Set up a Google Business Profile if you haven't already. It costs nothing and brings local visibility. But don't rely on it alone. Your own website is the foundation. The Google Profile is the supplement. Get in touch, and we'll help you connect both.
